What to Expect at Your Dog’s Initial Consult & Trust Building Session
Our first session is all about getting to know you and your dog! We take the time to understand their medical history, personality, and your goals for massage. Clear communication and well-defined goals from the start help ensure sessions are positive, stress-free, and effective.
What to Expect:
First 30-40 Minutes: Focus on assessment & goal setting
Review your intake form and gather details on health concerns
Perform a gait analysis to identify any signs of discomfort
Observe sits and lie-downs for indications of pain
Discuss your goals & expectations for massage
Next 20-30 Minutes: Trust-building & introductory massage
Massage is a hands-on experience, and we want your dog to feel safe and comfortable. A relaxed dog benefits the most from massage, so we take time to build trust before beginning.
During this phase, we’ll:
Use positive reinforcement (food rewards, gentle handling) to introduce touch
Practice basic behaviors (sit, lie down, settle) to gauge comfort in the space
Assess their response to touch and massage techniques
By the end of the session, we’ll have a solid foundation for future massages, ensuring a stress-free and beneficial experience for your dog.
What to Expect at Your Dog’s Re-check Consultation
Time brings change—including for your dog! If it’s been over 3 months since their last session, we’ll start with a brief consultation to ensure there haven’t been any major health changes, reassess their needs, and confirm your goals for massage.
What to Expect:
First 15-20 Minutes: Focus on assessment & goal setting
Review your intake form and gather details on health concerns
Perform a gait analysis to identify any signs of discomfort
Observe sits and lie-downs for indications of pain
Discuss your goals & expectations for massage
Next 40-45 Minutes: Focus on trust building and massage
Use positive reinforcement (food rewards, gentle handling) to reacquaint your dog with touch.
Assess fascia and muscles to determine areas that need attention.
Identify and address specific concerns, ensuring the massage aligns with your dog’s current needs.
This session helps us provide the best possible care as your dog’s needs evolve over time!
