About Canine Massage Therapy
Massage therapy supports both the physical and mental well-being of your dog. While commonly associated with muscle relief, massage actually benefits multiple body systems in each session. Our goal is to address the areas that need the most immediate attention while promoting overall balance and well-being.
Through regular sessions, massage can help:
Reduce pain – Alleviates discomfort from sore muscles and joints.
Improve muscle tone & flexibility – Releases tension in tight or overworked muscles.
Stimulate circulation – Increases oxygen and nutrient flow for better overall health.
Lower stress levels – Activates the “rest and digest” response in the nervous system.
Support recovery – Aids in healing from injuries or surgery by reducing strain on compensating muscles.
Which dogs can benefit from massage?
Because massage offers such a wide range of benefits, every dog can gain something from a session! However, some dogs may need extra support, and certain groups tend to benefit the most:
Senior Dogs – Aging often comes with aches and pains, and massage helps ease discomfort, improve mobility, and enhance their overall quality of life.
Sporting Dogs – Whether they’re competing in agility, dock diving, or other canine sports, these athletes put extra strain on their muscles. Massage aids in recovery, prevents injuries, and keeps them performing at their best.
Weekend Warriors – For dogs who spend their weekends racing through parks, hiking trails, or participating in occasional sports, massage helps prevent stiffness and soreness from bursts of high activity.
Palliative Care – For dogs in their final stages of life, massage provides gentle support, promoting relaxation, reducing discomfort, and improving overall well-being
Massage & Acupressure are not a replacement for veterinary medicine, we are not able to diagnose, treat, or heal conditions. Massage & acupressure should be used as supportive therapies while managing conditions with your dog’s veterinarian.
Advanced Massage Techniques
Our sessions incorporate advanced massage techniques to provide deeper relief and improved mobility for your dog. These specialized methods target specific concerns, enhancing both physical recovery and relaxation. Depending on your dog’s needs, we may use:
Helps relieve tension by gently stretching connective tissue. Addresses localized muscle knots that can restrict movement.
Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy
Breaks down adhesions and scar tissue, by applying pressure across muscle fibers, improving flexibility and promoting healing
Cross Fiber Friction
Lymphatic Massage
Supports the immune system by reducing swelling, stimulating circulation, and promoting toxin removal.
By integrating these advanced techniques, we create a customized experience that supports your dog’s overall well-being and long-term health.
Acupressure
Acupressure is a key part of Traditional Chinese Medicine, focused on rebalancing the body's energy to support overall health. When energy is balanced, it helps prevent injury and illness. While energy work might sound a little like "hoo-doo magic" at first, there's solid science behind it! Many acupressure points align with nerve-rich areas in the skin, fascia, and muscles, making it a powerful tool for promoting wellness.
While I’m not certified in acupressure (yet!), I do offer it as an add-on to any massage session. I also provide a specialized lymphatic massage & acupressure session, which is ideal for dogs who may find traditional massage too stimulating. Acupressure is a gentle yet effective way to enhance your dog’s well-being.
When incorporated, acupressure can provide extra support for:
Pain relief
Chronic conditions
Stress reduction
Post-injury or post-surgery recovery
